This is a list of services hosted by us. All of them are free to use, though some of them are only available to our members. Membership has a low monthly fee, which helps us pay for the servers and other expenses. You can sign up on Open Collective to support us and gain access to our members-only services.

All of our services align with our values of transparency, freedom, and privacy. Our servers are located in Germany, provided by Hetzner Cloud, and are powered by renewable energy. Our cloud infrastructure is built with open-source tools, such as OpenTofu and NixOS. The full server configuration is available on Codeberg, where you can also report issues, make requests, or contribute features yourself. You can review our server configuration to ensure that we are not tracking you or collecting your data. If you have a suggestion for improving our transparency, please let us know.

All of our services are accessible through TLS encrypted connections (eg. HTTPS) with certificates issues by Let's Encrypt. We do not use any third-party analytics or tracking tools. All the data we store is encrypted at rest by full disk encryption and other server-side encryption methods. Some of our services offer end-to-end encryption, which means that only you and the intended recipient can read the data.

Available

These services are reliable and ready to be used.

Molly icon

Molly is an open fork of Signal, the secure messaging app. The Signal iOS and Android apps have proprietary components and rely on Apple's Push Notification Service and Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging. That means your notifications are going through Apple and Google, though your messages are encrypted.

Molly is a pure open-source version of Signal with a few extra security improvements, using Signal's network, available for Android. Molly relies on the open Unified Push standard to deliver notifications. Our recommended Unified Push provider is ntfy. Signal's servers don't support Unified Push, therefore a tool, called Mollysocket is needed to deliver your notifications to Molly.

Our hosted Mollysocket can be used freely by anyone. It doesn't store your notifications or any sensitive data. To use it, install Molly and a Unified Push provider, such as ntfy, then scan our Mollysocket QR code when the app asks you to.

In Development

We are working on adding these services as soon as possible. Some of the listed services can be tried in our beta testing, but they are not yet ready for regular use, and the data may be deleted at any time. Keep an eye on this page for updates!

Matrix icon

Matrix (stylized as [matrix]) is an open standard for secure, decentralized communication. It works similarly to Discord or Slack, but is open-source and decentralized, supports end-to-end encrypted messaging, and won't sell your data.

We host matrix with the server implementation called Tuwunel, and we recommend using FluffyChat as a client. We primarily use our matrix server for collaboration within the association, and you are welcome to join to get in touch with us, or just sign up to try it out.

To protect our server from spam, you need to provide a registration token during the registration process:

Nextcloud icon

Nextcloud is a self-hosted, open-source, privacy-respecting alternative to Google Drive, Dropbox, and other cloud storage services. It allows you to store and share files and photos and you can enable end-to-end encryption to protect your data. The Nextcloud smartphone app supports automatic photo uploading. The web app supports a variety of extra features, such as collaborative note taking, collaborative whiteboard, activity log, shared calendar, task tracker, kanban board, polls, forms, and organised pages for collectives.

Our setup can be tested at https://nextcloud.testing.freeyourtech.org/ and we aim for a full release in the next few weeks. The service will be available to members only and accessible through our Single Sign-On (SSO) system.

Planned

These services are planned to be added as soon as we find the time to do so.

Cryptpad icon

CryptPad is an open-source, end-to-end encrypted, collaborative office suite. It is similar to Google Docs or Office 365, but it offers more tools and respects your privacy.

ntfy icon

ntfy is highly reliable Unified Push distributor. It allows open-source apps on your phone to send you push notifications. It is similar to Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), but it is open-source and privacy-respecting. We recommend that you use the official instance at until we set ours up.
